He had run around to the back door of the office and was
slinking up silently behind the old man. He wrapped his left arm
around his taller, but semi-frail opponent's neck, and jammed
the same blade he had tried to kill me with, into his kidney. He
removed the blade, stuck it into his spine which crumpled him to
waist height, then drew the razor-sharp black steel across his
throat and dropped him on the floor in a gurgling paralyzed
heap.
The old guy was still breathing, but wouldn't be for long. He
picked up the shotgun, pumped a shell into the chamber, and
put it in Buck Senior's open mouth. There was a flash, and then
all the lights went out.
Fredericks pulled Chris' head over to his shoulder and put his
arm around her. They were no strangers to violence, as both
had been investigating murders and serial killings for a number
of years, but it was one of the few times they actually had to
watch the killings take place. It was the most unspeakable act
either of them had ever seen.
Made it much easier to solve the case, yet somehow, they were
happy to not usually have it so good.

BLOOD BETRAYAL
I COVERED MY
NEPHEW'S BODY WITH
MY JACKET AND TRIED
TO CALM MY BROTHER.
The diluted mixture of hot
water and warm blood
circling the rusty drain of the
tiny, chipped-up shower was
going to be a hard image to
clear from anyone's mind.
